Weirdness, Debauchery, and a Pack of Loonies...

So the idea behind this event is to throw together as many unusual people and things in one place as possible. Don't get me wrong - we try to go far, far beyond that. We've spent half a year assembling a truly ineffable array of g'damned incredible offerings - strange and talented musicians, inspired and twisted artists, theatrical performances and performers, demonstrations of things varied and sundry, cult movies, Rocky 'Orror, and quite a lot more. But in the end, what seems to matter most of all to the people who go is the monstrous breadth and depth of offbeat folks of every shape, size, and variety, all having a good time under one roof.

My first goal is for any one of the aspects of this event to be so unique, extraordinary (and fun, goddammit) that it alone would inspire you to go. My second goal is to not only put together an overwhelming buffet of delights, experiences, and possibilities--but to put them together in such a way that it changes ordinary space and time altogether, and creates, for two days, something wholly not of this world. My third goal is to make an unholy amount of money.

The Story Behind It

Four years ago, I decided that I wanted to spend my birthday at a gathering of freaks. I called the event an "Overnight", and it worked; at least, the freaks have come back to celebrate with me every year since then. This is the fourth year...and the final Overnight. I may do something else next year, but not like what I've been doing. This is the last, and it's by far the most ambitious. And the most incredible.

Dedication and Concept

One more thing before you scamper off to buy tickets and join the Livejournal Overnight Community. Call me an unsentimental bastard, but I have a feeling that dedicating an event to a friend who died young is really damn boring. Less boring is this, the underlying dedication and concept of the Final Overnight.
